End Loading on Platform

06/19/2010 1:31 PM

Hi

I want to design a circular platform of 10 meter diameter and weights 1000 kg and has to support weight of 3 persons. the platform will be hinge supported at points A,B,C,D and bolted at points E,F,G,H.

I need the calculation for the loads on these points and safe dimensions of both the hinge and bolts.

please see the picture for more clarity.

I have two things to say.

1. If someone here does do the calculations (See#2) you would not be able to say that you designed it. You could say that you drew it.

2. Since this device is intended for support of live humans, there is considerable liability at stake here if the man-lift fails and injures or kills someone.

You need a real engineer to accept responsibility for his calculations.

i am a maintenance engineer and since this problem is not of my field i post it here to get help from the experts in this forum. i am aware of the risks and consequences if this was designed wrong.

The drawing was difficult to read clearly. I couldn't identify any of the lettered points, nor tell how this platform was supported.

I still don't understand what this platform is hinged to/from, especially at two opposed positions. And what do the bolts bolt to?

the picture in the first post is top view of the platform, the platform will be fitted at 10 meter height above ground and supported by vertical I-beams extended from fan structure.

this platform actually will be used below a vertically mounted fan at 12 meter above ground level.

i hope that i explained the idea clearly.
