Dear all..

Please let me know the standard distances between Lightning arrestor and 220 KV Transformer bushing in india. In which standard it was mentioned.

Normally the clearance is about 7 to 8 meter between Lightning arrestor and 220 KV Transformer bushing

Please check the IS code

There is no requirement any where in this world to calculate distance from an insulator, you can have air gap seperation criterea between arcing horns or you can have distance from live conductor to earthed tank or you can have Kv rating of the lighting arrestor etc.

What you are really after?

I want to know the maximum distance between transformer bushing and LA for 220 KV Voltage level...

the reason behind this is,if we keep more distance between LA and Transformer bushing, there may be chance that Lightning takes place in between LA and Transformer and it will damage the transformer...

In our plant,we are having 9 meters distance b/w LA and Transformer Bushing..

you are asking maximumum distance in that case my answer is Infinity.

Again you are refering to Transformer bushing I told you earlier it is an insulator that means you should not be worried about that.

I guess you need the following reference values:

If the rated nominal voltage is 220 kv rms rated system voltage should be 245 kv.

Clearance phase to phase 2.5 meters and phase to ground 2 meters.

Distance between two bus bar system 4m.

Creepage distance of insulator 5060mm (Note: I have taken 22mm / kv as datum)
