Prime power DG set

Is it true that prime power DG set to be loaded on average load of 70%.Why not full rated capacity

For one reason, there should be some reserve capacity for starting any large motors that might be fed from the genset. This is similar to providing a safety factor for any well engineered system.

Besides that; rating of genset is in KVA and the load is in KW

check generator's kVA, p.f and kW and compare it to your load kW. Do some calculation and you will get the reason.
