Hi there,

There are a few different ways to determine the numbers associated with posts. The thread number associated with a new thread/post is right in the URL:

http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/56354/How-Much-Does-Your-Fuel-Cost

Comments are identified similarly with unique numbers in the URL for visiting them individually. They are also numbered sequentially, starting with 1, in each post. In the example thread above, comment #5 is in reply to #1 - so if you read #5 but don't understand its context, you can just click on #1 to understand what the user was replying to.

I hope this helps! If not, please let me know and I'll try to explain further.

I'm not sure why you'd need to know this, though. I don't think you can search CR4 by this number.

A link is quickly found by entering the thread number, with the URL, in the address bar, like; http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/56428.

This is a convenient method of forwarding the topic to someone not registered on CR4.

Thanks for the 'heads-up'.

There's a faster way - you can click the "Send to a friend" button at the bottom of the original post to email it to someone:

Hello SavvyExacta.

I sort of watched this thread, and for some unknown reason I have neglected to award you a GA vote for your answers. Please forgive me; I am fixing that oversight right now. Well done, and thanks for helping us all.

Come on, guys, This is a perfect example of deserving a GA. Give it up.
