Civil, Mechanical and electrical stream are required forever. As a mechanical stream you can opt for

Refrigeration and Air conditioning - ever growing field across the Globe as it caters to all category right from Incubator to Mortuary.

Automobile and many other mechanical stream opportunities are there. I would recommend Air conditioning & refrigeration as it is used in variety of industries like Agriculture , Converting wastage to wealth especially vegetables and fruits requiring cold chain infrastructure , Hospitalty, Transporation.

Learn basic things- mathematics, thermodynamics, strength of materials, manufacturing, fluid mechanics and heat transfer very very well.

Then then explore. Explore as much as you can. Subscribe to many science and engineering blogs and websites. Do projects independently.

And watch science fiction movies. They will make you dream and think. Think how you would design such advanced machines. Don't just worry about which fields to go.

Worry about which field you'll have to create.
