CR4 Tool Bar Missing In Google Chrome Browser

07/05/2010 8:24 AM

My IE Explorer and Firefox have crashed so I have tried Google Chrome. I can enter print but cannot place any photos or other information in the message box as there is no tool bar. Also I do not appear to have any bypass fiunction? Is anybody using Google Chrome? Is this a common fault or is it my computer? I have not tried Opera yet for CR4 that is my next option. Garth

I briefly used Chrome and it did not render the CR4 response tool bar. I was able to use HTML <tags> typed in the response text to get the formatting options I wanted. I cannot confirm if HTML tags for links will work as I am now back to using Firefox. Best wishes.

Thanks for confirming that. I will now be able to direct my efforts to a different solution. Cheers Garth.

This is normal. I have been on CR4 for a couple of years, and actually just discovered this a week ago. Never could figure out how everyone was posting pictures, smiley faces, etc. I like the Chrome browser, but, you won't find the toolbar. Brought up IE, and there it was. IE was freezing up and having problems, which is why I am using Chrome. I went into IE properties, and I think it's under the advanced tab, and clicked restore defaults, it's working better now. Also, I had Chrome set as my default browser, IE doesn't like that,(I should say, that Microsoft doesn't like that). I still use Chrome as my main browser, but, I have IE set as my default, and just use it to access the toolbar when I need to.

Hi Kramarat. My problem is running an old mobo for to long instead of building my new computer its a case of being pushed to do it when the frustration becomes to much My IE Explorer loads up connects to the web and then shuts down, I did a reload [don"t have SP3 updates] and it seemed OK for a while then crashed ,then I did a program remove and reload but no good.I think it was looking for a file and could not find it why it needs that with a prog deleat and reload I dont know. My Firefox gets stuck in a loop and cant manage to boot up Ihave reloaded that twice but it insists on doing the same thing. I might have to put windows on to a new HDD and start to transfer files. Thanks garth

My system is P4 1.5GHz, Intel 845 MB, 1 GB RAM, from 2003. Now running Ubuntu Linux 8.04 with Open Office and Firefox 3.6.6. Runs VERY well and stable with this hardware since 2008. IMHO, this is the best way to keep old hardware running as long as possible. I know, Linux is still not for everyone but ease of install has greatly improved. All free and Live CD option for testing before installing is a nice feature.

Even if not installed, a live Ubuntu CD can still be useful. I had several friends call me in despair, ready to format their hard drives and reload Windows from scratch (virus problems). When everything else we tried failed, I was able to boot from my Linux CD and successfully diagnose and fix the problem without a drive wipe.

Good luck!

Well, at least you still have access. You might be able to go to the Chrome help center and throw it out there, I haven't tried that, but I'm sure they are always interested in ways to compete with/beat IE, might just do it myself, since I don't even like to start IE for anything. I installed Linux Mint on my computer alongside Windows 7, I'm sure it's a fine OS and I commend them for their work, but it's a brand new learning curve, and programs are not compatible between the two. More than I'm willing to get involved with right now. I found a great price on a new machine running Win 7, seems stable over all, but I'm still a slave to Microsoft. Computers are good to have, but they sure can turn into a time gobbling pain in the ass. Hopefully someone on here can give you some guidance on how to fix those problems, it's not me, at least you can still post in the meantime. I'm in Chrome right now.

We can tell by the dense block of text you are using chrome, safari, or opera

[p] & return will give you line breaks

I don't think I threw the cr4 problem up on the chrome forum as it is the persistent lack or programming resources by this sites administrators....

I can't live with chrome, no google toolbar

I use it [chrome] from time to time so I can have more than one Gmail open

I'm down to my last work around on mint, a USB camera that plugs into the eyepiece of a micro scope & came with a driver for win98...

for surfing, can't tell the difference, my speed limited by my connection more than anything.

I sure don't miss hassling with security issues

Common fault. As stated, HTML <tags> work fine if you can remember them. I just use IE for CR4.

i am using Firefox, mainly because it remembers my login and password so i don't have to log in every time. i can use the camera icon for inserting pictures and of course, all the standard symbols smileys and other functions of CR4. Only animated gif images cannot be inserted unless i have the url. But that is a CR4 restriction. So far, no problems.

Enigma browser from Sutton designs: http://www.suttondesigns.com/ is much faster than IE and firefox, but, not as fast as chrome. I think it uses a lot of the functionality of IE, so, if IE doesn't work enigma may not either. It doesn't have all the facilities of the "bigger" browsers, but, I've never found any thing that I want to do that it doesn't. It's very small (quick to download and install).

It's free and doesn't result in any hassle from Suttons.

All the "normal" CR4 things work:-
