Earth Connection at Campsite

07/07/2010 5:26 AM

If you don't have coal, salt and copper, then how would you earth your connection temporarily at a campsite?

A little more explanation is needed. Are you looking to provide earth ground for power provided at the campsite or power provided by equipment brought with you?

I would think that a campsite that provides power would provide it if necessary. If you brought a portable generator then its not necessary.

Any pot or pan handle driven in to wet ground should suffice. An aluminum pan would be the best.

Now my question to you if you bring all the perks of the civilization with you is that really camping?

How about a nail in a live tree. Lightning seems to think they're pretty good conductors.

The bulk of lighting travels down the wet bark.
