Help Desiging New Coil For Induction Heater

07/07/2010 8:05 AM

I am designing new coil for induction heater it consist just from 1 turn and it is used to heat a cast iron part to certain temperature. I would like to have the equations that I need to know the optimum design of the coil and the optimum distance from the coil to the cast iron part.

I'm not sure how much help you will get on this one. In my experience work-coils are pretty experimental (trial and error) using existing coils as a starting point. Basically keep the tube an even distance from the work for the area you want heated.

The distance from the coil to the cast iron part should be as little as possible to maximize efficiency in power transfer.

The coil tube has to be large enough for efficient heat removal.

I have some material for this but is in romanian language, if you can handle it ask for.

thanks for your reply but i just need the equation to measure the distance that magnetic wave move from the coil to atmopshere, send it to the material and i will try with it

I don't think I can send it using the forum. There are maybe 10 pages of calculus for inductors, taking into consideration multiple factors like materials used, temperatures needed to be obtained, aso.

I need a way to send it to you. There is a archive of about 50 KB. And I also have a written course from the university if helps. It is about 5 MB.
