Collaboration, Distributors, & End Users

07/09/2010 10:22 AM

Collaboration, like CR4 and other social networks are becoming hugely successful. Do you think such forums/blogs/networks would be beneficial to communicate amongst manufacturers, distributors, and end-users? Would it be used/useful? Do you know of any companies that have tried? Look forward to hearing from you all!

gkmiersma,

Yes, I believe such forums/blogs/networks are beneficial to communicate amongst manufacturers, distributors, and end-users

One of the many sites I use as a contractor is GadeBeam. It connects owners/general contractors with suppliers and sub-contractors and visa versa, suppliers with contractors, ect.

Usually, bid documents (plans and specifications) are posted and you can collaborate with the author of a post as to your intention to bid or not or to address RFI's (request for information = clarifications), ect.

Of all the sites I use though, IMO as an ongoing learning tool nothing surpasses the fine folks here on CR4.

I see this is your first post here on CR4 so let me be the first to welcome you – enjoy!

Thanks so much! That information helps helps a lot. Yes; I'm very much a "newbie" to the industry, so I'm still trying to learn a lot about where and how people connect!
