What is the ratio for coolant? I've got a 60 gallon system. How much cutting fluid do I need?

It depends on the type of fluid, however, the typical is 20%

So to fill a 60 gal container, you need 12 gallons of cutting fluid, and the remainder is water.

It is a good Idea to get extra,. Although most is recaptured and reused, some is lost to evaporation and splashing at a cutting head.

The ratio would be on the label of the cutting fluid.

It is not very clear whether it is a straight cutting oil or oil in water emulsion.

If it is a straight cutting oil, then you require 60 gallons

for oil in water emulsion, following ratio can be used as thum rule

For Grinding 1:40 to 1:33 (ie. 2.5% to 3%)

For turning, boring operation, based on severity you may use coolant to water ratio as 1:20 to 1:10

Guest is right. But there are so many variables and required expected outcomes. Talk to the coolant technical rep and they should guide you about the right type of coolant for your application.
