What make?

What does the manufacturer's instruction booklet say?

i am not expert in the RTD, but i can say that the best place to check the vibration is on its bearings

As close to the bearings as practicable for the radial probes and looking at either the shaft end or the thrust disk for the axial probe. Shaft surface must be round and polished.

you should read the manual / drawings. the radial vib probe must be at radial bearings; but the mounting position, whether it is 0-90 degree or 45 degree left & right or else , you should check it on the compressor or the drawings.
