A Question about Water Tube Boiler.

07/16/2010 3:26 AM

Hi,

I am wondering what makes the water in downcomer tubes circulate back to the Steam Drum through riser tubes. What I get is that it is the change in tempeature and density caused by the heat that makes the water circulate, I am not sure what theory is behind this, though.

Please help me understand this.

Thanks.

Look up "thermosyphon" in Wikipedia. All will become clear!

yes it is density difference that causes water to flow and steam to rise
