Dear Sir

I have read in some pressure vessel book that taller column are design for the max. top deflection of 6 inch per 100 feet of length.

Is this criteria included in ASME Sec-viii or not ?

Pl. let me know is other referance code is there?

The above requirement is not mentioned in ASME VIII dIV1 OR DIV2. But this is good engineering practice and this is strongly recommened.
