Remote Control GSM-Remote Control Car Starters

07/19/2010 12:47 AM

We have designed a GSM-Remote Control system for pre-heating and starting vehicles and Plant Hire for a Cell-Phone or Mobile Phone as it would be known in Europe.

The conventional Remote car starters are low range but the GSM-Remote Starters can be operated from anywhere in the world and the main application is not security but the convenience of being able to pre-start and run, charge the batteries etc when you may be the other side of the world and you vehicle is in the driveway port or garage.

We were looking for some feedback on what would be considered any negitives or indeed possitive reactions to a product like this.

It would suck to accidently start your car half way aroung the world and not know about it. Kind of like pocket dialing.

It is a good theory but dangerous practice.Like computers some one can log in and do some damage to the car. Even home appliances like a/c,heater,lights etc could be operated if they are programmed for remote operation. This one of the fears expressed in the proposed smart meters for homes. If a student can access a government defence organisation nothing is safe.

GSM? Maybe AT&T can get in on this and squeeze even more life out of their obsolete network once Apple dumps them after the end of the year and finally puts the iPhone on a decent network. I'm sure GSM would be an excellent way to implement remote control.

This is a very old trick used in South East Asia.

BTW, this is best avoided!

(I know, OLD thread)

The common slang term here for pocket dialing is "butt dialing".

Maybe I'm not fully understanding the intended application. Running the vehicle from a great distance just for battery charging seems excessively risky and wasteful. I'd prefer to connect a smart maintenance charger to the vehicle OR for longer term storage, remove the battery to a safe location and connect it to a smart maintenance charger.

That is Scarry! Good must be compared to the Bad! < sure nice to start your car, while you are putting on your shoes & Coat Grabing your lunch, so all you need to do, is put it into Dr. & Go...in a heated rolling capsule, with the radio on your favorate station. But the Frequancy that made that work so well for you, hacked into... can stop your vehicle, in the middle of an intersection. O'well?

nice idea, this will be definately useful mainly in the middle east, where people waste lot of fuel by leaving their car running in the parking when they want to go for a shopping or to some office for a short time & the short time some time leads to a longer time, with this thing they can pre-start the vehicle & may be the AC to cool the car so atleast one can touch the leather steering & can seat comfortably while entering the car as because of higehr ambient temp. of say 40 to 45 Deg.C. it is difficult to even touch the steering wheel of any vehicle & to breath the hot air for at least couple of minutes in the beginning,

i have also heard about the GSM opearated car alarm/immobiliser where if a person gets car jacked & robbed & then left alone on a highway or remote places, the first thing one can do is contact their immediate family members & they can dial a gsm no. & jam the car engine & then one can recover the car easily.

so this application is also very good, forget the hackers & gate crashers thats a part of the game. they also needs something to work on, isnt it?
