Laser etching to replace PLU stickers on fruit?

Looks like those PLU stickers on produce might finally be tossed in the dustbin of history, for good. A company has developed a way to laser etch the PLU, date picked and lot number onto fruits and vegetables for ease of tracking and sale. The only people who don't seam to like it are the artists who paint still-lifes.
