How to calculate MD KVA for a plant

07/20/2005 8:18 AM

Please tell me how to calculate Maximum Demand (in KVA) for a certain project / plant. If the supply frequency is 50Hz and Power Factor is 0.8.
Is it dependent on transformer rating or connected electrical load in the plant?

I wouldn't even know where to begin.

This is such a wide open question with so many potential variables. There's no way I can even begin to approach it.

You need a professional

I think you should contact an engineering consultnat to help you make these decisions.

Plant demand

The plant demand (power draw)will be based primarily on the connected load. Demand will vary as the load varies. Usually the concern is peak demand which affects equipment sizing and utility billing. Transformers have constant (core) and variable (coil) losses that add to the demand, but typically are less than a few percent of the overall demand. Power factor will vary unless corrective measures are taken. Partially loaded constant speed electric motors are typically the major cause of poor power factor resulting in a higher KVA for a given power draw (KW).

Hi

It is totally depend on Plant load and distribution System of Plant.
