MS Windows Problem

07/29/2010 4:08 PM

Greetings one and all. I am having a problem installing TurboCAD 15 on a computer running Windows XP Home Edition. I have tried loading this software in Safe Mode but get the message "The system administration has set policies to prevent this installation". The help and support option refers to Local Security settings In Administrative Tools. Unfortunately this option is only available in Windows XP Professional Edition. Does anyone know how to change these setting in the Home Edition?

Regards,

Tony Lee.

I think you have to log on as an administrator.

In xp home you have to log on as administrator in safe mode. From there you hopefully can change admin settings to all loading your program.

Tony, I use turbocad 14 and did not have trouble with xp so it sounds like your problem is with your computer settings itself , you may have to log in as an administrator to install the software. I find turbocad more user friendly than most of the other ones also you may contact imsi support and see if they can help you they were very helpful to me when I had trouble loading v12 on my vista machine they gave me an upgrade to 14 free which worked perfectly.

hi Tony,

AFAIK, Windoze Safe Mode is only to enable you to troubleshoot your machine. Only the basic programs are loaded in safe mode, and the installer will not work. ergo, you should log in as Admin in Normal Mode and install programs there.

HTH!
