FFKM refers to Perfluoro Elastomers.

I might have said Type 1 or Type 2 FKM.

If the guest who posted #1 had bothered to define for us the TLA (in this case a FLA) he may have gotten a GA vote.

TLA = Three Letter Abbreviation FLA = Four Letter Abbreviation GA = Good Answer

Done. GA. ROLMAOASA, NLA, Nine Letter Abbreviation.

I hope I can still remember what they stand for, if someone asks.

Apologies. I assumed the OP might know what was being referred to without considering that others might also be following the post and not know what it meant.

I shall make things clearer next time.

Have you tried Teflon coated blades and seals?

The best thing is to contact your valve supplier for this problem. If not known, contact M/s Intervalve, Pune or M/s Audco , Chennai.

I have worked some years ago for a butterfly valves manufacturer, and I can confirm EPDM is he best choice for sea water application. I you encounter problems, it is more likely because of the poor quality of the EPDM than because it is EPDM.

The best rubber for this application is silicone wich can last much longer and perform better under sea conditions than the best EPDM in the market. Try to use Phenyl Silicone.
