dear,

are you a student ? or design engineer ?

1. 8 mtr. height fitting - mostly recommended is 250 W, for better results.

2. Let us design for 150 W as you have suggested.....

Distance / Span between 2 poles - as recommended by manufacturer catalogue - 2.5 - 3

For economical designs, let us select span = 3 mtr.

Lux level require for street lights - is normally between 40 - 60

Let us select our requirements - 60 lux.

With 150 W HPSV - lumens out put = 14500 lumens.

Consider the road width = 100 mtr. ( Area = 600 sq mtr. )

No. of fittings & poles N = 60 *600/(14500*0.4) = 6 with span of 100/5 = 20 mtr. with span <3

( this is very simple calculation, assuming the uniform light being falling all over the area.)
