Wave traps in switchyard are always connected only in outer two phases(R,B) of transmission line. What's the significance of this?. Why not in R,Y phases?
Wave traps are not always connected on the outer phases (and are not needed on two phases unless possibly you have two power line carrier signals/systems for redundancy), although them may be connected that way by convention where you are. The advantage of connecting on outer phases is probably related to physical access for maintenance and testing rather then an electrical reason. I have seen them on the center phase on some lines in our area's transmission system.
