Emoticons

08/07/2010 6:19 PM

Emoticons - Way too many small round yellow circles with human-like expressive demeanors in order to punctuate someone's intended meaning, reflecting upon their posted text.

It starts to lose some of it's intent, and most of it's symbolism when used at all, if not most of the time, then at least when responding to a posting, or replying to a reply from another's posting of a comment, on this wonderful discussion site if used in a frivolous fashion.

Thank you, CR4, for allowing us participants in this forum to engage with people around the world, to discuss many different solutions to our common challenges.

Please keep the Emoticon option open, as well the ABC spell checking, and the Character set open and available as well, but please try to subtly suggest to idea/comment posters to possibly use the Emoticon punctuation toolset in accepted good taste decorum, to not reply with every bantering about, that may ensue, with a sign-on or sign-off, if you will with a happy or sad, or mad, or frustrated round yellow expressive face.

It (Emoticon) just seems to be starting to lose all of it's intended meaning, if it's being abused for so long, after a while. As well, it can get absolutely sickening when abused by certain folks in general.

I think we all may know who the intransigents may be, but they shall remain unnamed, due to national security interests.

Thank you - Loupy - (put Emoticon of your choice here)

That face seems to be expressing to me to say "just screw it", and to try to get a life.

And if you wanna know, sue, - you are absolutely right on.

Thank you - Loupy.

I'd suggest this : for your Emoticon tonight.

You may want to consider a Breathalyzer for your keyboard.

If I could come up with one, I know a lot of people that would buy them.

I should have put a smiley face on there so he would have known that I was joking, but, he doesn't like those.

Two emoticons in one short post? This is exactly the type of emoticon overuse that has the OP so upset. You are very cruel.

I may have to start my own thread to whine about guys who send multiple replies to the same post.

I was gonna put one of the little yellow dots between each word of the previous sentence, but that turned into too much work.

I should have put everything in one post, I just can't think that fast. Got just beat by the clock on each one. Besides, I wasn't being a complete meanie. I was also trying help this guy out of the quicksand he got himself into, to no avail.

Sorry to all you'se guys, It must have been when, in a bad/depressed/not enough sleep/mean/hangover-induced/PO'd frame of mind when that post was inadvertantly placed by a 'friend' of mine, whom I lent the use of my desktop to use on that day. - He has been told, in no uncertain terms, that that type of behaviour will no longer be tolerated in my household! - THERE!

Actually, I personally, (unlike my 'friend) like the different "happy or otherwise" faces very much, but not so much - Loupy

P.S. - And my 'friend", the one who started all this hooffuffah also used my signoff - what a jerk. - He is SO OUT OF HERE!!!
