A comparison of the data sheets of similar LEDs by different manufacturers is always a good place to start. The important aspects depend on the application the LED is being used in.
If you are planning on purchasing LEDs for specialised applications like LED lighting, optical data transfer, etc where component characteristics and tolerance are critical then you should purchase samples (possibly many) and product bench test before choosing or switching LED suppliers and mass production and sale of a product.
For general applications such as simple LED indicators it really doesn't matter which LED manufacturer you use.
