Cognitive Approach Among Workers to Enhance the Productivity in Manufacturing

08/15/2010 2:45 PM

I want to do do a survey among workers to determine their learning, thinking, memorizing and the problem solving skills.

the questions is what benchmark should i use to evaluate the workers' skill...so that i can re-allocate them in the production line based on the suitability of their skill.

I really need to know that how to evaluate all these skills......

can i just divided the questionnaires into 4 section- learning, thinking, memorizing, problem-solving and then evaluate the workers based on the question that they have scored?????

I appreciate for all advice and help from all of you guys...

Be careful. You might get what you wish for and then what will you do?

So what happens when you find out that your best assembler is dumber than a box of rocks and your cheif troublemaker is the cleverest of the bunch?

What do you think the peopple that you test will think of you and your motives?

I'd give this more thought before you poison the well, and maybe your own career.

I have found that asking questions that are clearly related to the job and can be seen by all as relevant aremore likely to actually get answered and help advance the cause than questions that might be seen as threatening by the workers who feel they will be sorted into classes because of the testing.

Just a word of caution for the good of the order.

Milo

Well said. The vote system is plugged right now (when will Admin fix this?), so I can't give a much deserved GA.

I agree with Milo. GA vote for you, sir.

While there is a connection between production and human resources, the connection may be better addressed by those trained in the 'Human Elements'. I agree that people already employed may react to such a survey in a manner you had not considered or predicted.

However, I believe such a questionaire is appropriate at pre-employment screening. That would be the best time to evaluate; before the employee becomes entrenched in the internal politics of the department or company. As the employee matures, continues their education, demonstrates traits desired... an evaluation can (and probably should) be made based on individual merit.

The voting system seems to be working now.

Well put Milo, as usual.
