Do you mean condenser as in steam condenser or do you mean it as in capacitor? If it's the former, it's to recover the steam back into water for reuse. If it's the latter, it's to dampen out voltage fluctuations.

Hi, You have given the heading as Power plant. So i think it should be the steam condenser. Condenser is used to extract the steam from the LP Turbine and condense it.

....so as to lower the pressure downstream of the low pressure turbine and therefore get more work out of the turbine for the same quantity of steam, thereby increasing the thermodynamic efficiency of the installation.

....and to capture the pure condensate (now water) so it may be re-utilized in the 'steam cycle'. To the OP, look up steam cycle.........

Let the guessing games begin...!!

"Why we use condenser ?"

Pick one:

- Because everyone else in the third world has one.

- Because it was included in the plant that you took over when you kicked the Brits out during the Peoples Liberation of the Power Plant.

- Because the King's cousin, the Minister of Electricity, thought you needed one.

- Because it looks really, really good beneath the broken and rusty Steam Turbine

- Because you got it cheap on eBay

- Because, when you open a door, it makes a really good place for a family of five to live
