Switchgear - Overload and Short Circuit Current

08/20/2010 7:22 AM

Hi,

Can any one suggest me the new technology which you have come across in Circuit breakers. Normally the circuit breakers will be responding for overload and Short circuit current which will be taken care by (Bimetal for overload & Magnetic release for SC current).

Define what size you are referring to. "Circuit Breaker " can mean anything from 0.1A to 10,000A and there are very significant differences in the technologies available.

For most MCCBs under 100A, the bi-metal thermal and magnetic plunger trip mechanism is tried, true and extremely cost effective. Above that there may be reasons you want to consider solid state trips, and above about 1000A, almost all MCCBs and ACBs are now going to have solid state tripping systems.

I am seeking for new technology adapted in release part (both Thermal and Magnetic) of miniature circuit breakers (MCB) upto 125A rating.
