Shut Down Valve

08/23/2010 2:00 PM

we recieved 3 shutdown valve ( ball type), rotork actuator with quick exhaust 3 way type soleniod, air fail close

the problem is :

our datahseet says the bench setting min /max : 4.5 /8.3 barg, air supply min /max : 4.5/8.3 barg

recieved shutdown valves name plate states that 4.5 /5.6 bar Op and air regulator gauge is having 0 to 100 psi range. can anybody tell me that 4.5 /5.6 bar Op means bench setting or else. If so then i thing so it is wrong as bench setting should ne close to air supply range.

another valve recieved states that 4.5 /9.3 bar Op

Please guide me.

for your inf : Name pate format is like that

make:

model:

Sr no:

min/max: 4.3/5.6 bar op

Does the valve open correctly on 4.5 barg air? If so, then there is no basis to reject the valve.

yes its opening at 4.5 barg

there is also a PRV set point 5.5 barg after the regulator.

my doubt is does 5.5 bar will able to open in 6sec opening time as bench set is for this valve 9.3 bar

please reply

thanks again

Eh? The valve is air-fail-close in a shut-down situation. Why is the opening time any issue?

Opening time has a lot to do with the air supply line and its length and diameter. Closing time has a lot to do with whether or not a quick-release valve is fitted to the air motor as well.

yes we recieved some shutdown valve with fail safe open and some with fail safe close as per our datasheet, depends upon application.

the case i projected in just early reply is the case for fail safe open.

consider this valves case

the issue is only the bench set mentioned at the name plate is 4.5/5.6 where as datasheet mentioned as 4.5/8.3.

but vendor function test report says that all valves tested in 4.5 gage with ,6 sec closing time.(closing time is as per data sheet)

please tell me that is it ok
