Some One Explain Poteniometer Operation In Measurements?

Too broad a question.
Do you know what a potentiometer is and how it works?
Do you know what a bridge circuit is and how it works?

This is not my field, but I didn't know you could measure anything with a potentiometer.

In my ute I had a bunch of pots on my voice and instrument amplifiers (and some pot hidden inside, too) but they couldn't measure anything. Just goes to show ya what a sheltered life I've led.
