How to Work Out Cable Cross Sectional Area?

Hi

Is there a way to tell the cross sectional area of each core, in a 3 or 4-core pvc/pvc/swa cable, by measuring the OD of the cable?

Not reliably, it will change with each manufacturer and cable specification.

No, but cables are generally marked with this information. If you get desperate and have no cable marking and idea of the manufacturer you can measure the cross sectional area of the individual strands and then add them together to get the total cross sectional area.
