Porosity Problem with Wheel Assembly?

09/01/2010 11:19 PM

It is an over molding part , Material : bearing and Nylon 6.6 ,

If you have a problem with porosity in wheel assemblies , how to solve them ?

Change the material Nylon 6.6 into Nylon 6.6 + GF 30 ?

Or use some extreme pressure grease ?

Or increase the gates on mold ?

Thank you in advance .

Hi Niya:

My experience is very limited on injection molding, so all I can tell you (because I used to see it a lot), is that you need to make sure your nylon pellets are being thoroughly dried before molding. Otherwise you'll have a severe porosity problem.

Check the air filters, air flow diverters, turbines and desicant level/age on your dryer.

I agree with you. Nylon is especially moisture sensitive/absorbent.
