Doesn't matter. I don't do metric anyway.

banu....

Let the third world questioning begin...!!!

I assume that this is the first tank that you have ever designed...Is that correct ?

And you have no idea about the contents or the specific gravity of the contents...

And since the tank is not being built to any recognized code or standard, and since we have no idea about the quality of the welding or the type of material used......

I suggest that you use 0.25 inch (6 mm) carbon steel plate.

I was going to suggest 50mm A36 steel (2" for those who do not do metric) That should be enough. But, maybe not.

As you point out, we have all been trying to tell haruxa we need more information to come up with anything of any value.

Does, "6m height,2.256m diameter" really = 24000 L?

V= Πr2H

2.256*.5 = 1.128m (r)

1.1282Π ≈ 3.997 m2

3.997m2*6m ≈ 23.98 m3 ≈ 24,000L

No?

[edit] missed a pi, and added same.

This is just metric homework anyway. A contrived diameter, 2.256m? Assumptions are inside dims, excludes ends, steel, no internal reinforcements, fixed on pad, USA, not insulated...

Me too.

Hello

look at this page from Outokumpu, you'll find a software for Tank Wall thickness Calculation, it's a nice tool.

follow the link under "design", Storage tank shell thickness calculation

http://www.outokumpu.com/applications/documents/start.asp

hope this can help u
