ECC – Earth Continuity Conductor

It is a name used in IEC world. In North America, it is called grounding conductor. As the name implies, it maintains the continuity of the earthing (grounding) throughout the electrical system. It could be a bare conductor or single conductor cable or a conductor of a multi-conductor cable. Generally, the size of the grounding conductor is smaller than the power conductor in a multi-conductor cable. It is same as the PE (protective conductor) of TN system as defined in IEC 60364-1.
