I will use this thread as a paradigm.

A guest posts a question, and leaves an email address. We have speculated on this forum that many people who post a question as a guest do not return, because they simply cannot recall where they were at. Perhaps this poster recognized that probability, and left email contact information. As a guest, our general rules are not familiar (I know it says not to include email in the posting guidelines, but haste, language barriers, and laziness are what they are).

The original poster will be sitting by his monitor, hoping for a response. This hope will be dashed and unrequited. This due to the contact information being deleted. I agree with this email policy, and support it.

Is this yet another point to consider as CR4 Administration deliberates the Guest policies? I do not feel as strongly as some members (many of you have voiced for the outright exclusion of guests) on this issue.

perhaps a better explanation on the opening page when a guest fills out the question ?

this is a copy of the page where questions are posted, it requires a good command of the English language, Something some of the Guests have not got.

it needs simplifying

and the requirement for contact details highlighting, or better still as required on all other sites

a valid e-mail for the signing in process to start. perhaps

Tips for Posting on CR4:

  • Look for answers before you post. The answer to your question may already be on CR4.
  • Provide as much information as possible. Questions lacking detail won't get answered.
  • Give some thought to your post title. Don't use "Hello", "Question" or "Help". Be specific, e.g., "How Do I Install Replacement Brushes In My DC Motor"
  • Please stay on topic. Posts and comments should be of a technical nature and engage some aspect of engineering, science or technology.
  • Do not post the same thread multiple times. We will delete duplicate posts.
  • Include your country/region if needed. Some questions can only be answered "correctly" if people know where you are in the world.
  • Do your own homework. CR4 is not a homework cheat site.
  • Post all advertisements in Commercial Space. Select that forum from the list below.
  • For more tips see our FAQ.
