Are you referring to the testing of the lift itself or the personnel who will be operating it or both?

If you are not trained in lift maintenance and testing don't go near them. In the event of an accident, you will find yourself personally liable. Ottis have training courses in most countries. I found them very helpful.

Heck he could be talking about shoe lifts for all the information he gave.

Any goods lift, passenger lift, forklift, scissor lift, etc. If used commercially must be installed, maintained and serviced by competent personnel. Insurance companies now insist on external certification of competent personnel.

I have an interesting question for lift engineers given below.Has anybody tried to replace the balancing dead weight for a lift with another liftcar in an adjoining lift shaft to move twice the load for almost the same input power by using a PLC to control both lifts one going up while other goes down?.

The lift guy wants to hand me over the lift and i want that the installation should be properly tested. So what are the commissioning test that should be carried out to ensure that the installation is properly done.

Get you insurance company in to proof test the loading. They will not insure the lift until their inspectors have seen it and tested it.

The installation team cannot just hand it over to you.

You cannot use the lift until it's insured.

The original equipment manufacturer certainly can.
