Frame Size

09/10/2010 4:34 PM

Dear All

Which standard provides the frame size of motor (e.g. 444TS) for a given size and rpm of motor.

If I want to find out the motor base dimensions and shaft height, where do I look ? I know I can always contact the supplier. But Is it covered in any standard e.g. NEMA etc.

Thanks in advance

Some dimensions of a standard motor frame are covered by NEMA standard MG-1. I believe the dimensions that aren't covered by that standard will simply vary among manufacturers.

NEMA MG 1 part 4 covers dimensions and mounting arrangements. Part 10 covers outputs and part 12 covers performance.

In Europe we have EN (EuroNorm), DIN (German), BS (British) and IEC (International, of course) standards, all now inter-related. The main ones are EN 50347 covering outputs and dimensions, or IEC 60034. All European motor manufacturers adhere to these standards, and there are very, very few instances of multiple mounting/dimensional arrangements.

I'm starting to sound like an analy retentive accountant! Time to depart!
