Resistivity of a Magnet

09/16/2010 12:08 AM

Has any one measured electrical resistivity of a permanent magnet? Is it same in the direction of the magnetic field and perpendicular to it?

Meaning - Do electrons feel different resistance(for same dimensions like area of cross section and lenght of path) - while moving along N-S axis or perpendicular to it?

Has any one measured electrical resistivity of a permanent magnet : Yes

Is it same in the direction of the magnetic field and perpendicular to it? No.

Search MagnetoResistance and you may get lot of information on it.

BTW: obviously it can not be equal (Force on moving charge in magnetic field)

Thank you very much for the lead. I have some good industrial application in mind based on this concept. I only got a hunch soemtime back.
