Why Only AFBC?

09/20/2010 1:10 AM

I have a doubt...

I would like to know why AFBC boilers are more preferred than CFBC boilers in captive power plants of smaller capacity (say 2 x 30MW)...

Apart from the cost constraints are AFBC boilers have more endurance to the load variations?

I mean the steam demand varies for the process for about 100 tph within 2-3 mins.intetrval.. why AFBC is preffered than CFBC in the above case?

Please let me know

Thanx & regards

AFBC- Atmosphearic fluidized bed combustion boiler.

CFBC Circulating fuidized bed combustion boiler.

The initial cost of AFBC boiler is much lower than CFBC boiler, so it is preferred at low capacity. For higher capacity CFBC is more efficient so lower operating cost, so it is preferred. CFBC operation and maintenance is more sophisticated.

For 30 MW plant, why do you need AFBC and CFBC's. We, for our 60MW plant are using Pulverised Coal boilers with Ball Mills.
