If I recall correctly, the mac and pc floppies (diskettes) were the same size, but incompatible.

Most Macs can read from and save files to PC formatted floppies, but of course the PC programs will only work on the Mac if it has some form of Windows installed (with BootCamp, Parallels, VMWare, etc.).

On any recent Mac, of course, this means using an external Floppy Drive. All the ones I've ever used connect via USB.

I've never seen any way to run Mac programs on a PC, if that is possible.

I may be wrong as it's past my bedtime, but it appears to me the question is about copying Mac floppies to a CD and then running the program on a PC.

All of the above answers are great. The only problem now is that the Mac CAD program won't run on a PC. If this were just the opposite there would be no problem as the Mac's could run the PC's software with the proper emulation software installed on the Mac.

On the possibly mistaken assumption that the software might be designed to run on either machine- you just tell it what you have- try this.

Copy the entire contents of the floppy as a file on the MAC. Then, email the file (worst case is 1.44 Meg) to yourself. Open the file from your email into a new home on your PC, then burn the file onto a blank CD.

This assumes that your MAC does not have a CD burner. If it does, you won't have to email the file- just burn it onto the CD.

Note- I am talking about a full copy of the files on the Floppy, not the operating files currently on you MAC.

If I understand what you are trying to do, it can't be done, period. Any Mac old enough to have CAD design software on a floppy used either the 68000 or the PowerPC processor series. This software will not run on Intel processors, Mac or otherwise.

If you are referring to data files created by old Mac CAD programs, rather than the CAD software itself, then there are possibilities. I still have a working Mac with MiniCad 4 and 7, as well as MacDraw 2, and can convert some of the old files to usable DXF etc.
