I think you should forget ETAP software for now and start looking at textbooks for the basics.

I can understand someone asking what is variable "XYZ" is in relation to a formula, but not a whole string of variables.

Working with steam powered generators is not child's play. This is very hazardous work. If you wish to learn how to work there, sign up to a school. There is a lot of preliminary knowledge you must master first to be able to read a book on steam turbine generators and gain useful knowledge. For an example, you must understand the concept of enthalpy without looking it up in Wikipedia.
