Indeed, planting trees is good for the environment on many levels.
I do some 'stealth planing' on the edge of local woodland, I move trees which the squirrels have planted in my garden and put them somewhere more useful.

Powerful fellows trees, they give us plenty of funky stuff, rubber, toxins, asprin.
Wood is probably the most versatile easilly worked material in the world, not many civilisations manage without wood.
