Thermal Efficiency for Bypass Turbine

09/26/2010 9:15 AM

Dear all-please tell me what is wrong with my assumption that the thermal efficiency for a bypass gas turbine for a generator would be better that a turbine without bypass?

We don't know what you're talking about. What turbine? What bypass? How was it measured? It's quite possible that some combination of turbine and bypass could have a lower thermal efficiency, is also possible they have a higher efficiency.

Homework is an opportunity to test your understanding of the material you've covered in class.

Thank you-after I posted my question, I continued to think, and concluded that I was a real fool! My whole "concept" was wrong! sorry!

I can tell you're not a fool. I've known some absolutely brilliant people in my life and even they have misinterpreted something, misunderstood, or misspoke. Sometimes it's a little embarrassing but it's not a sin. Everyone has had one of those experiences.

My best wishes for whatever it is you're doing.

Randy
