R-Pad Fabrication Detail

09/29/2010 12:47 AM

Where I can find fabrication detail of R-Pad fitted at the point of tapping? I have gone through ASME B31.3 but didnt find anything except R-Pad thickness calculation. I am looking specifically for a R-Pad on a tapping off a steam service line.

In my history we always had the "Width" of the Pad equal to 1/2 the Nominal Diameter of the Branch Line.

Example If the Branch line was NPS 12 (on a NPS 24) then the width of the pad around the 12" line was a 6" wide "Ring"
