Career-wise, alternatives exist in the food service industry for example.

Concentrate on keeping up to date with a few areas of science/technology/research, etc that you are interested in or think will be useful and keep a broad understanding of other things going on around you. No one can be an expert or even proficient in everything.

Yes no matter what field of technology you are involved in, it is with a doubt, daunting to say the least, to keep as current as possible in this ever changing field of engineering and technology.

What works for me, or seems to anyways is... I subscribe to several trade magazines in my field of study. I read them from cover to cover each and every month, often times I read them over and over. You would be surprised how much information you can pick up this way, especially on new developments in a given field of interest.

Also... many technology based interest groups routinely hold mini-conventions and "learning sessions". These short 3-4 hour opportunities often allow for you to absorb much in the way of new knowledge. Finally... a place like CR4 is as good a place as any to peruse to gather intel.

Don't give up... like any thing worthwhile, it takes effort. The trick is finding the way in which you get your "best bang for the buck" for the time invested.

Depends on how old are you sir?

If you are over 55 , then it is natural and you should change to a little headache work instead or get retired.
