Was it not supplied with a manufacturer's calibration certificate?

Friend,

I suggest:

Check the system searching any possible leak, I mean in the tubing connectors or hose connected between the capillary and the vaccum pump, maybe this the cause because the pressure donĀ“t reach lower values

and

Take account the effect produced by the filling liquid of the capillary,
How many pressure value is indicated by the pressure transmitter when is vented to the atmosphere? <----- the value must be near to 760mmHg

Regards
JP

maybe you are at a attitude and the pressure sensor is calibratd at mean sea level thus o/p not going to zero as you say it is a absolutr pressure transmitter

If it is truly an <...absolute pressure transmitter...> then it cannot give an output of <...-117mmhg...>, as that would represent a pressure below absolute vacuum.

If the applied pressure is 760mmHg (1 atmosphere) minus <...117mmhg...>, then the <...absolute pressure...> transmitted by the instrument is [tap, tap, tap, press equals] 643mmHg.

One needs the span of the instrument to hand, which has been withheld from the forum. There must be a span adjustment on it somewhere, the detail of which has also been withheld from the forum, as has its manufacturer and part number. A simple telephone call to the manufacturer might be all that is needed, and the telephone is far quicker than making a post on CR4 and waiting months in vain for an answer.

Do help the forum to provide the information needed.
