What's the basic difference between BSP thread and METRIC thread??

One is inches another is metric. The BSP sizes are compatible with the pipe sizes (non metric) available.

The included angle is 60o (Metric) Vs 55o (BSP)

However in application really not much of difference - provided you take the fine pitched metric version (and they are already in use) even Swagelok has hydraulic fittings on metric.

The threads for the fittings however has fine thread (not the normal standard Metric coarse). Also the leakage is arrested by external sources (washers/seals,...) but that is applicable for bot BSP as well as metric.

BTW you will find now a days a lot of thermowells as well as instruments with fine pitch metric threads
