Siemens Display - Defect

10/08/2010 4:23 AM

The defect I have, I assume it's from the display: (the input works, it's just hard to see what you are doing)

The problem I have is the supply tells me Siemens doesn't supply this model anymore. The display is combined with the controller. It's a Siemens Ergomatic, on the circuit board the model is G34904-D1000.

On the touch screen board G321D / Rev.2 – X5RIAC:

The Machine is: Blohm – Planomat 608 (I have the electric schematic)

What I'm looking for is an alternative Display, or a schematic where I could make a connector for an external touch screen, Or how and what I need to measure, to find out which leads are what.

Thanks in advance for any info you can spare me.

Maybe this is a dumb question but does Siemens have any suggestions for an alternate replacement?

If you want to shoot me a PM, I can provide you with a contact at Siemens that may be able to help you out. He is here in the US and I can't guarantee that he can do anything but non the less he is pretty good at what he does and it may be worth a try.

If all else fails and the unit is basically complete junk, you still have several options:-

1) look on the web (ebay?) for a working one, or one that the screen is still good.

2) Sell it on ebay.

3) Try pulling the connectors of the screen off and putting them back on, it may be a simple connector failure that off and on again may fix.....

4) The screen itself is probably an industry standard, look around for a replacement LCD.....if you feel the connector is good.

5) LCD screen driver chips may be plugged or even un solderable on an old unit (no easy chance on a newer one!)

6) Give it up for repair to either Siemens or a recommended Siemens repair company.

I am sure that I have not covered all bases either.....so don't give up!!

Thanks for the input.

I did try the connectors, which is one of the first things I look at.

Yes, I am looking for a compatible unit it's just I lack a bit of know for this. What are the criteria to look for and better yet what are the specs of the one I have. Which I have searched on Siemens site and Google but have not found much, since I only have what is written on the board and on the schematic, and it seems that it was custom made for Blohm, it's giving me a hard time.

Does anyone have a Siemens Technician contact in Europe, I speak: English, German, Italian.

Here's a link to a datasheet for your display, made by Seiko:-

http://www.compsys1.com/support/docs/g321.pdf

You may be able to get a second hand one on ebay or similar but I wouldn't guarantee its quality. Hopefully you can figure out a replacement from the datasheet info.

I have contacted Seiko Instruments GmbH Germany, but they do not supply it anymore and do not have an alternative, they sent me to FEMA Electronics USA, but I'm still awaiting an offer since February 16 2011, after contacting a few time after that.

If you have found sometning, please share.

Re: Siemens Display - Defect

Billy,

I successfully retrofitted two displays on Blohm Precimat 306, the last one today.

I used Fema replacement that I bought 2 years ago. Original were nowhere to find.

I found today that invertercentral.com (mentioned above) lists them, called them and they are to call back, but I have v.little hope.

But in a process (today) I lost parameter, "Error in machine-Parameters", unfortunately I cannot enter the proper data because password doesn't work. On top of that all the emails to Blohm services listed in the book that came with the machine don't work.

Could you help with that?

Any documentation that you may have on troubleshooting could be helpfull.

Hoping to hear from you.

Thanks,

Kaz

The display we solved together with Siemens Italy, got an exchange panel, The problem is that Blohm Germany Tel 0049 40 72 50 02 doesn't exist anymore, in Switzerland we have:

Walter Meier - Tel: 0041 44 806 46 21

Which has support & service for Blohm machine, if not try contacting your local Siemens support center since Blohm mounts siemens, there expensive but good.

Wish I could be more of help.

Billy, thanks for your answer, but I would like to know: did you replace just the LCD (if yes with what?), or did you have to replace the whole Siemens Ergomatic G34923-K1010.. controller?, if so how much it cost?

OK, I solved the problem.

And have a solution for a defective LCD much cheaper then what Blohm charges ($7kUS!)

Hello. I know it a long time ago you discussed the issue, but we faced it now: G321D LCD panel does not work at our Wafios bending/spotwelding machine. Did you finaly had a good solution for this in your case? Do you know a supplier of used/refurbished/new/replacement panels for this one?

Thank you.
