I have a 12" thick reinforced concrete retaining wall which has been stuccoed. The stucco is now cracked in places, generally following the control joints, but not following the joints in other places. Some of the cracks are 1/4" wide.
Can I remove all the stucco along the wall, grind out all of the irregular cracks, apply some sort of elastic material in the groove, and then stucco over that material with elastomeric stucco?
Over the ten years or so, water has gotten behind the stucco from the open cracks in the top of the wall, now causing the stucco to loose its adhesion to the wall. Freeze/thaw is always a problem in our area since we are at 7000 ft. elevation.
