Safety Relay Schematic

10/14/2010 3:32 PM

I'm looking for a published explanation of a Safety Relay Schematic.

I've found many examples of how to use the relays, but no explanations of what the various connections (S33, S34, S10, S11, S31, S32, as a short list of many connections) do.

I'd rather not have to reverse engineer the functionality and miss something. Does anyone have a link to a good resource on explanation of Safety Relay Schematic?

Thanks for the help.

This is a good start. It's beginning to fill in the holes.

Thanks.

Hello,

I teach wind turbine electrical concepts at a community college. In the wind industry, we use safety relays extensively in fail-safe, emergency stop systems.

I'm not sure if you're still looking for info on safety relays, but I recommend going on line and searching for Allen Bradley's safety relay pdf (catalog # 700-Z). The first seven pages of it explain the concept of safety relays better than any other source I've seen.

If you email me at gsmeeuwsen@gmail.com, I will be glad to send the pdf to you too.

Good luck.
