Actually all design engineering calculation completed.

The guy who store the material previously mix up all material together.

Now all this come on my head & i have segregate & issue material for fabrication.

I don't know how to identify HIC material from this lot, can you help me in this matter.

This are the spec. we are using : API 5L (normal & HIC treated), A106 & A333

You mean this material is used - has been in hydrogen service?

Material going to use for sour gas line - Hydrogen sulfide (H2S)

Abdel Halim Galala or QAQCpipeman should be able to help you with this one.

I think (I'm a Bar metallurgist) that to eliminate the possibility of HIC, the material would have been thermally treated, so a difference in appearance where one shows evidence of a high temperature treatment vs one that does not.

However, this is speculation as I do not have the API std in front of me.

Look for evidence of processs differences, based on the spec.

I have no direct experience with sour gas pipelines. At Essar the steel mill section produced qualities of coil designed for sour gas - a good money maker.

To the best of my knowledge, the chemistry is different. We had no heat treating facilities. Seems those grades were referred to as X__ grades.

Is this old material being reused or new material that was mixed up?

Why do you think there may be hydrogen induced cracking present?

Russ, They have designed and know that they need two different materials, one protected for Hydrogen, the other not.

Now they are going to build, and they find that their supplier has mixed lots/ lost identity, and they are trying to figure out how to solve that problem.

Actually we are constructing refinery in KSA for this different type of material we have use & some material already store in our yard.

Now I have to segerate HIC material & Non HIC treated material, morethan 5000 pipes stored in our yard & from this lot I don't know how to identify (physically) HIC material and for this I need help.
