WiFi Utility Needed

10/16/2010 11:53 AM

hi

i am searching for a utility program by realtek, with which you can monitor the signal strength and quality, you can see the mac details , ssid details and then you can have your profile to add specific networks in the profile.

this utility came with my wifi adapter with realtek 8187 chip (alfa brandname from taiwan) . i have tried to find this utility program from realek site and the alfa company's site aswell but no luck.

there might be some other programs too with similar features but i am bent upon having this utility again....... it was so good and easy to use .

if anyone of you knows about this utility program and where i can download it, pl let me know.

thanks in advance

Not sure if you have RTL8187L or RTL8187SE, but here's where you'd want to go to download UI packages and drivers:

thanks for the link but unfortunately that is not what i am looking for .......... i guess its not a driver that i am looking for......... its should be program ....an exe file ..... one thing i am sure is that this utility is by realtek. coz i remember the realtek logo evry time i opened this utility to scan the wifi networks available or to connect to one of the found networks....... thhe good thing is that it could trace even the invissible networks........ hope i have made myself clearer now. waiting for the reply again. thanks

I did a little digging, but couldn't find anything like that. It's possible that the software you're looking fro came on a CD with the component. I know a few video cards that come with extra software to keep tabs on the overall effectiveness of the computer, so perhaps there something similar for that particular product?

My best guess would be to try contacting the manufacturer (in this case realtek) and see if they know anything about it. They'd be able to help you out better than I.

Good luck~

"... i am bent upon having this utility again ..." - how did you lose it?

I use Network Stumbler to research MAC duplication, channels, and signal strength of nearby access points before I select one for mine. It's plenty easy to use and works with many WiFi cards.
