Use the formulae below to get the thickness of the blind flanges for the pressure ratings that you may require:

tp=ID* SQRT(kc*P/Ss/E) + A

Plate thicknesstp
Thickness of pipetsr
Nominal DIA OF PIPENP
Factor of thickness of platekckc=0.33(tsr/t) min shall be 0.2
Inside diameterID
Internal design pressurePMpa
Maximum allowable stressSsMpa
Joint efficiencyE0.85
Additional length or allowanceA 3

For procedures, you have to consult the Engineering assigned or ref. to the Isometrics for hydrotest instructions. From those intruction's you can easily develop the procedure depending on the avalibility of water & resources. As I realise that you are doing for the first time ensure your stuff is reviewed by safety guys as well. Don't blow pipes its dangerous.

Good Luck to you.

How did you get the job in the first place??

Are you supposed to already know about, "procedure to be used in hydrotest piping and leaking test for valve"? If so, you are cheating your new employer.

Does your new employer know that you are asking total, potentially unqualified, strangers how to do your job?

Have you no shame?

Some more examples of "questions we should ignore at all costs" are:

1. whats are the parameters to be considered while design an tower crane ?

2. computer hanging during usb connection

There are dozens more like this from people who present a clear danger to themselves and others if we empower them with just enough information to embolden them.

How their conscience allows them to do this, I cannot imagine.

What we are witnessing here is a collision between competence and corporate culture.

The poster obviously doesn't have the first clue. He is probably not even a beginner engineer, yet he has been put in a position where he must know about pressure equipment. There seems to be no person available for questions.

I strongly object to the language used in answer #6. I am an engineer from India and know that the question asked here is not something that should have been asked at such a forum, still I would believe that better sense should prevail in answering this question.

Many young engineers often come up with questions like this. I was working for an American company before and an American engineer once asked me what is hydrostatic head. I did not disparage the young man but explained what should have been taught to him during his engineering degree program. It is not that engineers outside the Western world are illiterate.

I request that moderators should keep an eye for such answers and remove them immediately.
